Tambourine takes its name from the Tambourine Dove (Turtur tympanistria), an indigenous bird of sub-Saharan Africa, whose low-pitched, rhythmic drumming call inspired the depth and resonance of the composition through Namibian myrrh. Its rufous, cinnamon-toned underwings are reflected through notes of local naartjie oil and Madagascan-grown cinnamon leaf.

A vision of birds carrying the first signs of summer, wings brushing and sweeping, a ringing of scent into presence like tambourines. Hibiscus seeds, jasmine and frangipani bloom at the heart, veiled by spice, leaving an impression of fallen fruit and florals strewn across warm ground, painterly and sensual.
